In 1997 many people in Southern Oregon found themselves welcoming in the new year as they trudged through the mud frantically piling up sandbads. Usually, you see pictures of floods as flat bodies of water slowly rising up to envelope houses. This doesn't happen in Ashland because of the mountains. Instead we got raging white water tearing apart everything in it's wake.
I've assembled some pictures of the event on this webpage that cannot be found elsewhere on the web. Though flooding occured throughout the Rogue Valley, these are all of Ashland partially because it was one of the most spectacular areas, but mostly because I'm biased. This web page is about Ashland, so I'm going to show you pictures of Ashland!
