The Mutton Birds |
|
A now defunct Kiwi 80's band (yes, they're from New Zealand), The Front Lawn provides catchy tunes with often hilarious lyrics and reflections on society. They are impossible to find outside of New Zealand (believe me, I've tried!), and were similarly non-existant on the Web until this page was created. They toured from 1985-1990, and came out with two albums, Songs From the Front Lawn (1989) and More Songs From the Front Lawn (1993).

More Songs From the Front Lawn:
(Many thanks to Rob Hosking for sending me this CD).
"These songs are taken from various shows the group did in the late 80's. As such they're usually part of a narrative which means sometimes the lyrics are puzzling out of context." - Rob Hosking

At a party in Oamaru, Robert notices that someone has noticed him
- Everyone Disappears
Fate brings Neil and Glenda together on an aeroplane
- Coming Ready or Not

| The Mutton Birds |
Don McGlashan is now in a band known as the Mutton Birds:
Their music has been described as "Twin Peaks meets the Beatles" while lead singer and songwriter Don McGlashan has been dubbed the heir apparent to Neil Finn's songwriting throne. Their fourth single Anchor Me from their highly successful 'Salty' album is currently the most played local song on New Zealand radio, while the album is achieving big-time status in Canada and Germany following the band's recent tour. Insightful ballads, songs about shopping centres and life - New Zealand's best export since Kiwi boot polish.
