Short Stories
The Jeeves & Wooster short stories were originally published in magazines and whatnot. They've also appeared in collections that claim to be the "Best Of Wodehouse," but are in fact a "Smattering Of Wodehouse." Luckily these short stories have also been collected by various publishers into books of nothing but Jeeves stories.
Penguin publishes the original three collections: The Inimitable Jeeves, Carry On Jeeves, and Very Good, Jeeves!. An interesting issue with these, is that the first collection of Jeeves short stories was collected by the master himself and re-written to come together as a sort of novel - The Inimitable Jeeves. This book takes many of the early Jeeves stories, and melts them together at the ends. The remaining stories are collected in Carry On Jeeves, and the next collection was just a straight chronological collection - Very Good, Jeeves!. The first two collections are published in a collection of collections (!) called Life With Jeeves, which also includes the novel, Right Ho, Jeeves!.
Confused yet?
There is hope - The World of Jeeves And Wooster published by Harper Collins, is the most complete collection of Jeeves short stories. It contains two stories not in any of the above collections, and returns the stories from The Inimitable Jeeves to their original condition. But beware - it's far too much to sit down with and read in a few days. Your mind becomes overloaded with Jeeves and Bertie, and they begin to grow a bit stale. These stories are best taken in small doses. Also, the final three stories are taken out of context, as they involve incidents that occur amongst the events in the novels.
Here is a list of all the Jeeves short stories, the collections in which they appear, and links to the episodes of the Granada series that used elements from each particular story.
Here's some further explanation of The Inimitable Jeeves and the original stories as they appear in The World of Jeeves.
