I've amassed a bottle collection that stretches across the kitchen, and even for a root-beer connoisseur such as myself the distinction becomes fuzzy. These, however, are the very best. Admittedly, I'm biased towards the creamy rather than the biting.

Really, I just like Root Beer. For serious reviews try Spike's or the Root Beer Cellar.

Henry Weinhard's
By far the best. A very thick-head that gives it a soft feel but rough flavor. Not very carbonated at all. Revered by enthusiasts, but sadly, not available out east.
Virgil's
Definitely a creamy one. Low carbonation, and no head. Smooth taste with a bite in the aftertaste. Expensive, but the old-fashioned resealable caps are great.
Boylans' Creamy Red
OK, this is a Birch Beer, and it's not fair to compair to Root Beers, but it's good. Again, creamy, and well... birchy. Not as sharp as most Birch Beers.

I'm not a snob who puts aside the best mainstream root beer just because it's mainstream. Sweet and so carbonated it tickles your toungue. Get it in the bottle.
